Living horse museum in Chantilly, France opened it's doors for visitors in June 2013 and is already proving to be a major new French attraction.
The magnificent stables of the Chateau de Chantilly have been converted to house the museum after four painstaking years of restoration and the result is very impressive indeed.
You don't have to be a horse lover to appreciate what is on offer at the Musee du Cheval, though there is no disguising the joy of those that are when they do visit this exceptional museum which is very much alive.
The living horse museum combines static displays depicting the development of the use of the horse in society throughout the ages combined with opportunities to view horses and impressive live performances.
Located just north of Paris it is actually a good place to visit if you are catching the plane home from Charles de Gaulle airport, which is what I did, or even if you are driving back to the channel ports it is worth a detour. Not only is the museum exceptional but so are the chateau of Chantilly and the grounds which include the famous racecourse.
