Croatia is the jewel of the Adriatic with the magnificent Dalmatia (yes it’s where the dog's name comes from) coastline and a whole host of beautiful offshore islands. The mainland boasts beaches and rocky coves stretching for mile after mile, interspersed with fascinating historic resorts whilst the islands are all about tranquillity.

Discover the abundance of riches which Croatia has to offer, there are numerous fascinating holiday attractions in Croatia just waiting to be explored and enjoyed. It is a lively place too and you may well find one of the many holiday events in Croatia, such as the lively Split festival or the Dubrovnik arts festival, of interest during your visit.

With a deserved reputation for excellent value for money, you have delicious food at reasonable prices and can revel in the pleasure of eating out in Croatia and treating yourself to some serious shopping. Outdoors is a playground; amidst the sweet smelling pines of the Marjan peninsula the hills are ideal for hiking and bicycle rides and there is much more on offer, particularly watersports and sailing. The warm sea is amazingly clear and clean, abundant with fish, it is perfect for swimming and diving.

Croatia villas

The mainland is a curious geographical shape with a large inland area to the north and a long finger of land fringed with beautiful beaches pointing south. It is a land of contrasts and beauty.

The islands are spread over a wide area and there are many of them, some inhabited others a haven for wildlife and birds. We have selected Croatian islands which are only around half an hour by boat from Split. You can be sure it’s worth the effort to relax amidst abundant, unspoilt countryside on a holiday island paradise!

For Catholics, the pilgrimage site of Medjugorje near Mostar is worth a visit. It is said that the Virgin Mary has made a number of recent visitations here. Over 30 million pilgrims from all over the world have visited Medjugorje since the first sighting in 1981.

Time

Croatian time is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time as it lies in the Central European Time Zone.

Travel

Travel to the Croatian international airport of Split with Croatia airlines, Easyjet or Wizzair. We can help arrange reliable transfers from Split airport to the villas, including the ferry element required for the villas on the islands of Brac and Hvar. It is also possible to fly into Dubrovnik although it is a much longer drive up to most of the villas.

Flying times

Flights to Croatia from London take around three and three-quarter hours.

Weather

The weather in Croatia is the Mediterranean on the coast and nourishes rich tropical vegetation of palm trees, colourful plants and cactus. Inland the temperatures in the Dinaric Alps mountain range is cooler, with snow in the winter.

Food and drink

Croatia is an excellent place for foodies as there is lots of good quality local produce, especially fish and seafood. There are some great specialities including oven baked fish with delicious fresh herbs and squid risotto with ink sauce. Croatia produces some excellent wines such as those produced on the Peljesac peninsula.

There are many beautiful sights in Croatia a product of the geographical variety from mountains to islands and a rich history coupled with a strong regional culture.

Eating out

The restaurants in Croatia cater for all tastes and many are in beautiful settings overlooking the sea. Prices range a good deal, you can eat out reasonably cheaply as a family though once you go to a restaurant with interesting local dishes prices are definitely higher.

Rent a villa in Croatia, what to expect

The villas in Croatia are thoroughly modern with all the home from home comforts you would expect. The houses are nearly all equipped with internet access. The main peculiarity is that the holiday homes in Croatia tend to be renovated village houses so not many offer seclusion. On the other hand, you can stay in nearly all without a car as you can walk to all facilities and it is easy to hire a car there for day trips. It is very helpful that so many Croatians speak English and are generally very friendly.

We have an excellent support network in Croatia; they are on hand to help if you need assistance. Speaking many languages including English, French and German, you can be sure you are in good hands and they can deal with any delays even for holidaymakers staying on the islands.
