Visit Aghhii Pantes island for an All Saints day to remember, join the inhabitants of Aghios Nikolaos on a unique annual event.
There is a small island opposite Aghios Nikolaos called Aghii Pantes that means all saints because of the little church situated on the top.
This island is protected because of the wild goats the locals call kri-kri which live there. No one is allowed to go to this island for any reason, only once a year, when the Cretans celebrate the "all saints day".
For this year, this celebration comes on the 19th of June. Small boats leave the port of Aghios Nikolaos in the eve of 18th, with the sunrise and the morning of 19th bringing hundreds of visitors aboard, to spend some time on the island, attending the mass and return them without payment. Everybody can use the boats, locals and tourists. Sometimes visitors are lucky and can also see the famous kri-kri.
One of our previous villa owner says “I keep a very nice souvenir from last year when I went for the first time. The site is magnificent and the trip by boat takes 10 minutes”.
