Sardana dance festival in Calella, Catalonia takes place again on the 4th and 5th June 2011.
Known locally as the Alpec de la Sardana, the annual dance festival in the charming fishing town of Calella on the Catalonian coast is a lively outdoor event performed by the locals and enjoyed by visiting holidaymakers.
During the weekend there are celebrations running well into the early hours by the sea on the Saturday and dancing during the day in Dalmau park on the Sunday. The sardana dancing is a traditional Catalonian dance in an area of Spain which values its local identity very highly.
