Montseny biosphere reserve Park, a beauty spot to visit on a Catalonia holiday, located in the coastal hills north of Barcelona, near Girona in Spain.
This impressive range of hills peaks at the top of Turo d’Home which is 1,712 metres high, closely followed by Les Agudes and El Matagalls which itself is nearly 1,700 metres.
An area of outstanding natural beauty the Montseny massif is a UNESCO nominated site due to its great array of fauna which includes many alpine plants as well as those of a Mediterranean nature. Added interest comes in the form of megalithic monuments which are to be found throughout the park.
This is a great area for walking and there are numerous trails throughout the mountain range although it’s certainly better in Spring and Autumn when its not so hot. There are also riding stables and the possibility of 4 x 4 off road excursions.
So if you want to combine your relaxing Catalonia villa holiday with a day or so stretching your legs then a trip to the Montseny hills might well appeal.
