Lemon Festival, Menton, France takes place 18 February to 9 March.
The centre of Menton takes on a carnival atmosphere for the Fete du Citron with vast floats and parades winding through the streets to the sound of bands playing and with much dancing.
Menton is in a spectacular setting with its Mediterranean front and harbour backed by the steep cliffs of the Alps, just a few kilometers from the Italian border.
This year is the 78 Fete du Citron and the theme is Les Grandes Civilisations. So you can expect plenty of Roman, Greek and Egyptian costumes and presentations. Lemons are a major crop here and its influence creeps into the cuisine and the drinks all of which are to be found in abundance in Menton.
