Ile de Brehat a beautiful island in Brittany lying just two kilometres off the north coast, equidistant between the cross channel Brittany ports of Roscoff and Saint Malo.
Car free and visit-able on foot or bicycle there is a host of thriving flaura and fauna amidst beautiful pink granite rocks to enjoy. The southern side of the island is lush and almost tropical in nature with gorgeous beaches, particularly at Greve du Guerzido, whilst the north is more meadowland.
There is a tiny village on the Island of Brehat which has a year round population of just three hundred people. In the village you will find a couple of shops and hotels.
The Les Vedetted de Brehat ferry service sails from the Pointe de l’Arcouest, north of Paimpol, every half hour from 09.30 most of the summer with some variation. For more ferry information consult vedettesdebrehat.com
Actually there are two islands which form the Ile de Brehat (separated at high tide) and a visit to this little paradise is well worth doing.
