The Fiestas de Otona kicks off with the years Vintage Queen riding through town along with her accompanying maidens on a wagon dripping with grapes, to mark the Nativity of our Ladies Feast.
Naturally there is an abundance of Sherry issuing from the producers establishments, known locally as Bodegas and of course no Spanish festival would be complete without the ensuing flamenco dancing and partying. Throughout the festival there is an impressive program of Bullfights, concerts and displays.
September is a wonderful month to take a holiday villa in Andalusia as this southern region of Spain is blessed with a wonderful warm climate which is particularly clement at this time of year.
Touring the vineyards and sampling the local manzanillas and finos is one of the great pleasures of a holiday in Andalusia and is even more enjoyable when the festivities are under way.
