Crete in Greece has the annual Rethymnon wine festival over a period of two weeks in July 2011.
The Rethymnon wine festival event is provisionally scheduled to take place from the 8th or 9th of July to 15th or 16th of July, 2011.
Held in a beautiful setting, shaded by mature trees, ideal for enjoying the fine aspects of Cretan living the Rethymnon wine festival offers far more than mere wine tasting. It is very much an occasion for all the family.
There are of course many exhibits from the local wine producers of the Rethymnon area who have upped their game in recent years to offer both traditional wines but also wine which confirms to modern drinking habits. So alongside a local label you can also find a nice Sauvignon Blanc.
To complement the wine there is plenty of delicious Cretan food on offer, such as delicious pasties, local cheeses, stuffed vine leaves and much more, all cooked fresh by the locals. What a treat!
There are various entertainments for children who enjoy the family ambiance and of course there are traditional Cretan music concerts and dancing which is invariable open for all to join in once the “professionals” have done their bit,
Crete is a warm and friendly island with a rich culture and exceptional food and wine which you can really get to know properly through the informative locals at the Rethymnon wine festival.
