Val d’Isere is opens this weekend and there is loads of fresh snow, so it’s not too late to get your Val d’Isere ski chalet booked if you haven’t done so already. As is often the case due to its situation and geography Val d’Isere has once again landed plenty of early snow which it is destined to retain for the winter.
The Daily Telegraph recently reported on the British love affair with Val d’Isere and it would seem one of the main reasons is the wide choice of Val d’Isere chalet accommodation available in resort, from reasonably priced up to super luxurious with spa.
Furthermore there is the stability of Val d’Isere, in so much that it hasn’t really changed much over the years and above all the skiing remains excellent. Many British skiers have learnt to ski in Val d’Isere and they keep coming back for more along with their children, even their children’s children.
The ski area is huge and suitable for all abilities, the lift system is second to none and for free riders and snowboarders there is the Oakley Val d’Isere park, which is right on the cutting edge of the freestyle action. Then of course there is the after ski scene in the likes of Dick’s Tea Bar which are magnets for skiers and "saisonaires" alike.
So you won’t find legions of French or Russians on the slopes and in the bars of Val d’Isere, it remains very much a British ski resort and looks set to stay that way.
