Landlocked Umbria nestles between Tuscany, Lazio and Le Marche and whilst it has plenty to offer in its own right it is very easy to visit its neighbouring regions. There are a number of fascinating cities in Umbria of which Orvieto, Perugia, Todi and Assisi are the best known.

Travel to Umbria is best by fly-drive. There are direct flights to Rimini (RMI) and both the Rome airports, Ciampino (CIO) and Fiumicino (FCO) are an option. You really do need a car for a villa holiday in Umbria and it is an option to bring your own but you will need to take some overnight hotel stops on the route.
The weather in Umbria tends to be lovely and warm with plenty of sunshine in the summer months from April to October. It can get quite hot in July and August.
