Spain villas events. The Spanish social season 2010 has run much of its course already but we are still only just halfway through the summer so there is still plenty to come. These are the coming Spanish villa holiday events for 2010 and the start of 2011.
La Tomatina is one of the most hilarious and wierd events of the social season in Spain. It takes place in Bunol, near Valencia on the Costa Blanca coast of Spain. Quite simply the town goes mad and around one hundred and forty tons of very ripe tomatos serve as ammunition for people to pelt each other. This colorful event takes place on 25th August.
Fiestas de Otono is the big Sherry festival of Spain. It takes place in Jerez de la Frontera and begins on the 4th September running through to September 25th. It is an action packed period of festivities including concerts, bull fights, flamenco dancing and much to do with sherry.
La Tamborrada takes place in the basque city of San Sebastian on the north west coast of Spain, near to the French border, on 20th January 2011. Starting at midnight in the old quarter (Parte Vieja) drummers dressed as soldiers and chefs take to the streets for one of the Spains noisiest festivals.
Las Fallas or the Festival of Fire takes place in Valencia from 15th to 19th March 2011 and marks a period of night long fire lit festivities where the Valencians burn paper mache figurines on bonfires whilst letting off fireworks. Sleep is not generally on the agenda in Valencia during Las Fallas.
Running of the bulls in Pampelona takes place from 7th to 14th July 2011 and is the major event of the Spanish social calendar as well as being the most exciting and deadly. The running of the bulls through the small streets of Pampelona is famed throughout the world.
