Scallop festival, Cotes d Armor, Brittany takes place in Erquy 9th to 10th April 2011.
Brittany is arguable the very best region for fresh fish and seafood in France as the local fishermen have access to excellent fishing grounds which are fanned in the south by the warm waters of the gulf stream.
The tradition of fishing and seafood is still very strong in Brittany and visitors to Brittany enjoy access to first class fishmongers who get regular deliveries of fresh fish. You can tell when the catch is arriving as there is often a queue outside and when you get in the langoustine are usually still moving.
Scallops are big favourites in everyday French cuisine as well as in gastronomic restaurants, known locally as Coquille Saint-Jacques, like all sea food they are best fresh.
