The ski area at Les Deux Alpes is known as le Domaine Skiable des 2 Alpes and it covers over four hundred hectares of mountain, rising from 1300 to 3600 metres, with a massive 225 km of groomed slopes. There are some 211 snow canons to ensure that snow cover is virtually guaranteed.
In all there are fifty one ski lifts, 23 chairlifts, 18 draglifts, 3 bubble lifts, 1 cable car, 2 Debrayable cable cars, 1 Funicular, One rope and one snow rope. The new addition is the Telesiege du Sautet a swish, modern chairlift.
There are 92 ski pistes, comprised of 10 black runs, 19 red, 43 blue and 20 green, so there is plenty for everyone whatever the grade. There is the possibility of a new run opening joining the Cretes sector with the resort.
Les 2 Alpes is where the ski pass was invented way back in 1957 when it cost just four French francs.
The glacier which is to be found between 3200 and 3600 metres is carefully maintained through the winter to ensure virtual all year round skiing.
Every Wednesday and Thursday there is a ski bus service, Navette Grand Oisans (places are limited and need to be reserved with VFD) joining Les 2 Alps with L’Alpe d’Huez.
