Chaumont International Garden Festival runs through the main summer months from 29th April until October 15th. Chaumont-sur-Loire boasts one of the most majestic chateau in the Loire valley and it is in the Chaumont’s castle grounds that the contemporary garden design festival is held. The theme for 2010 is ‘body and soul’.
International race meeting, Deauville takes place from July 31st through until August 29th. The horse races are held at the fabled La Touques racecourse and includes four Group I classic races.
Les Azuriales Opera takes place in Cap Ferrat on the Cote d’Azur between August 12th and August 29th. Launched in 1997 the opera festival is held in the grounds of the enchanting Belle Epoque Villa Ephrussi de Roschild and can seat 200 people. On the program for 2010 are Carmen by Bizet, Falstaff by Verdi, L’Histoire de Babar by Poulenc and Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disiganno by Handel.
Regates Royales de Cannes 2010 starts on 20th September and runs through to 25th September and Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2010 follows on from September 25th to October 3rd. Attended by stunning yachts, many old and some modern, they are among the world’s finest sailing events.
Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe takes place at the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris on 3rd October. The big day of French horse racing is attended by many of Europe’s leading winners. Tradition and glamour rule the day.
