The present disruption created by the volcanic eruption in Iceland, affecting thousands of travelers throughout the world, is leading many who have yet to book their summer villa holiday to reassess their plans.
No one really knows how long the current flight disruption will last, or what the consequences will be for airlines in particular. It does seem to depend a great deal on which way the wind blows and we can only hope that the disruption is minimal this summer.
Many people have yet to book their 2010 summer holiday and there will no doubt be a surge in demand for holiday destinations with "reliable" travel links and for the UK this will put France at the top of the list. Petrol prices are high at the moment so most people will not want to drive beyond France but they will want to avoid another rain soaked holiday in the UK and France offers the best chance of decent sunshine.
France will also be high on the list of many other countries which are within driving distance of beautiful French regions such as Brittany (we have over 100 holiday gites in Brittany), the Dordogne and the French Riviera. These include the likes of Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and even the Scandinavian countries Norway, Denmark and Sweden. It is less likely that holidaymakers from these countries will fly to long haul destinations this year, instead they will get in their cars, take a ferry if required and head for the nearest, most popular sunny holiday destination, France.
France villas will become the choice of many for 2010 linked with a channel ferry or train crossing rather than a flight. So if you are one these people don’t leave it too late to make your booking as there is a good chance that ferry and channel tunnel capacity will be unable to match the surge in demand and the same applies to villas. Our advice is book your French villa holiday now whilst you still can.
