Visit Mount Batur an active volcano, whilst enjoying a relaxing villa holiday in Bali.
You can take a break from enjoying the pool and playing in the waves and take a trip inland to spectacular north eastern mountainous area of the island where mount Batur dominates the skyline.
Mount Batur first erupted back in 1804 and it has been in a more or less constant state of eruption ever since. Its lake, Danau Batur is the largest of the islands crater lakes.
You can take an organised trek to the 1,717 metre summit of the mountain which is known locally as Gunung Batur and is actually a holy place. Our villa managers will help you choose an appropriate trek for your outing as it essential you go with a guide, after all it is a volcano! You can of course just take the drive and enjoy the scenery from a distance.
Bali is an island of great geological interest and this volcano is just one of the fascinating places you can explore even from a Bali coast villa. Others include the mighty Mount Agung which rises to an impressive 3142 metres.
