On the north west of the mainland with the island of Corfu opposite and the Albanian border to the north lies the Greek region of Thesprotia is located.
It is is a mainly agricultural region and other than the fruits of the land it main revenue source is tourism, which flourishes because of the beautiful coastal beaches by the Ionian sea.
Its place in Greek legend is due two of its rivers the Thyamis and the Acheron which are both lined with plane trees and reed beds.
Part of the Epirus region it's capital is Igoumensitsa and the main seaside resort is Sivota which is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the mainland resorts in Greece due to its remarkable natural beauty.

Fly to Athens airport 480 km.
This region is dry during the summer months and you can expect warm temperatures in the high twenties from June to September, peaking in the middle.
