The Peljesac peninsula is one of Croatia's great beauty spots and a renowned wine area. Running parallel with mainland Croatia, just north of Dubrovnic, this long finger of land is quite stunning.
At the entrance to the peninsula is the amazing town of Ston where a whole hillside is fortified by walls which are known as Croatia’s equivalent of the great wall of China, which are actually the second longest in Europe. It’s a fascinating place to visit and visually extraordinary.
As you progress up the Peljesac peninsula the rolling hills become increasing covered with grape vines which are a beautiful sight. Finally from Janjina much of the west coast is dominated by steep slopes lined with vines practically down to the sea and imposing mountains rising high behind. There are hardly any buildings here and the feeling of being at one with nature is complete, the hills, the vines, the sea stretching over the horizon, it's so tranquil and relaxing. The small, picturesque villages of Trstenik and Zuljana are idyllic spots to enjoy a restaurant meal.
The Dingac wine produced here is mainly red, it is quite strong and reputed as the best in Croatia.

Peljesac Peninsula Activities
The obvious activity in this area is wine tasting, it would be churlish not to! Enjoy the coastal drive and visit the spectacular fort at Ston. Dubrovnik is one of the jewels in the crown of Croatia and should not be missed.
The great thing about the Peljesac Peninsula is that it feels like you are on an island, even if you are not and on the western coast you have views of the open sea and can enjoy the water disappearing over the horizon.
