Events in Spain 2014, here is our guide to the main events of interest during the holidays this year. Why not attend an event during your vacation?
Back in January in San Sebastian the drummers took to the streets again for the annual Tamborrada. It will be on again next year so if you are in the north west of Spain do check it out.
In February and March the Las Fallas festival lit up the night sky of Valencia down in the Costa Blanca region.
The Las Fallas festival in Valencia is one the most spectacular events in the Costa Blanca. It takes place during February and March each year.
Spain has a special connection with Formula One motor racing and the Spanish Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit de Catalunta, Montmelo in Barcelona in May each year. Hamilton won it this year.
The seaside track in Valencia has been the spectacular location for the European Grand Prix in June for many years. However it will not be hosting the event this year.
You can attend the International Festival of music and dance which runs from June 21 to July 12 in Granada in Andalusia.
In Cordoba, also in Andalusia from 1 to 13 July there is the Festival de la Guitarra de Cordoba which offers a range of local traditional musical based around Spanish guitar and flamenco.
Bull fighting and bull running are very controversial and whilst we are not in favour it would be wrong not to mention the Pamplona event in July 6 to 14 as it is one of the major events in Spain.
In Almunecar there is a Jazz festival from 17 to 21 July although there are some earlier events. Check out the Festival de la Costa.
Much more fun and socially acceptable is the mad Tomatina event which takes place in the streets of Valencia in August 27. Be careful though as there is a high risk of getting covered in ripe tomato.
Villas du Monde offer an excellent range of villa accommodation in Spain including a great choice of villas with pools in Costa Blanca. Well worth considering if you are going to an event.
