Virgin Mary apparitions in Medjugorge near the Croatia border are the reason millions of visitors have travelled to the holy site since 1981.
Medjugorge (Medugorje) is actually in Bosnia Herzegovina about 25 kilometers from Mostar and somewhat inevitably the apparitions are contended by many including the bishops of Mostar.
But that does not stop the visitors coming in their droves, all year round. Our lady of Medugorje has, according to believers, been making regular apparitions in Medugorje since 1981 back in the days of what was then Yugoslavia. One Marija Lunetti (Pavlovic) is said to receive messages once a month on the 25th and another Mirjana Soldo (Dragicevic) reports the same phenomena on the 2nd.
Medugorge has become one of the most popular sites for Catholic pilgrimages in the world with a reported 30 million having visited since the apparitions on Crnica hill began.
A day trip to Medjugorge is feasible from any of our holiday villas in Croatia though the easiest is from one of our Split Riviera villas.
