The villa a summer read for 2012 by Loseline Ley is on the shelves in bookstores and airports now.
With a title like The Villa I couldn’t resist picking up the latest novel by Roseline Lea as I perused WH Smith’s in Liverpool airport a couple of weeks ago.
At first I thought oh no I’m not going to like this but actually after a few chapters I really got into it and found it captivating and interesting.
Without giving too much away it’s based around a villa in Sicily, Italy which is located in a magical setting, right on the sea shore. It’s a pretty modern book which goes into some issues of contemporary life but I most liked the revealing of the Sicilian way of life, a look at the past and particularly the insight into the food in Sicily eaten by regular people in their homes.
It’s fairly light reading which is perfect for a villa holiday when relaxing by the pool and it’s definitely got some interest value. Once I got through the opening section I found it hard to put down.
