Théoule is one of the nicest resorts on the French Riviera, largely because of its size and its location. Situated 10km to the west of Cannes, at the beginning of the Esterel coastal hills it is set in a delightful cove overlooking the bay of Cannes and the chateau at Mandelieu.

The villas are set in the hills just behind the village which has comprehensive shopping and restaurant facilities as well as a lively summer scene which includes shows at the Pierre Cardin theatre. Details from the tourist office on the coast road.

The big attraction of Theule is the beach which is very picturesque, flanked by the spectacular red rock cliffs of the Esterel. Starting at the private Marco Polo beach there is a delightful walk along the coastal path which is a favorite with fisherman, to the public areas where there is well maintained sand.

Quickly the sand gives way to pebbles upon entering the sea which is invariably crystal clear due to this property and as a consequence this is something of a haven for snorkeling. There are lots of pretty, small fish swimming around the pebbly seafloor which shelves gently but sufficiently quick to be enjoyable for bathing.

There are a number of places for dining, drinks and snacks along the coastal path and these include the renowned, upmarket Marco Polo restaurant a pizzeria and a couple of snack bars. All are rather tastefully done and enjoy beautiful seafront locations. There is another beach accessed from a pathway running behind off the main coastal path.

Across the bay there are fabulous views of Cannes and the mercantour hills in the background which are often still snowcapped even in June. There is a regular boat trip to the Levin islands running from the small marina. There is a train (with whisper lines) running well back from the beach, so its just an advantage and can be useful for visiting the area.
