Spain weather

The Spanish weather along the coast is really warm and sunny nearly all year round. The Costa Blanca has even been recognised by UNESCO as having the ideal climate. Generally speaking, it gets hotter as you move down from Catalonia to the Costa del Sol.

Spain holiday books to read

Driving over Lemons by Chris Stewart makes for good light reading for those who dream of staying by the pool of their Spanish villa a little longer. A must read for anyone is the Laurie Lee classic As I walked out one midsummer morning and for those with infinite patience who enjoy a sophisticated chuckle about Spain of the past Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes is the big one.

Spain food and drink

As one of the biggest exporters of fruit and vegetables in Europe, you can be sure the Spanish keep some for themselves, as you will see. Add superb meat, serrano ham and excellent Rioja wines and you can eat very well at the villa in Spain, which is why most clients spend all day in the pool and barbeque meals on the terrace.

Eating out in Spain

Meals out in Spain can be very good value, families are welcome and the menus multilingual. Tapas bars and restaurants are big favourites and tendency is to eat later as Spain comes to life around 10 pm.

Villa and country house accommodation for school holidays in Spain

The Spanish school holidays differ from Britain so it's worth taking this into account when you book a villa holiday in Spain. You can take advantage of quiet periods with good weather for Easter breaks, Spring bank holiday, even October half term. In July and August, it does tend to be hotter and busier. If you are not tied to school terms then June and September are probably the best months and much cheaper.
