Find a beautiful villa with private pool a short drive from the beach for your holiday in the charming traditional Greek village of Plaka. Situated on the north-west coast of Crete between the charming ports of Chania and Rethymnon.
Set on a hillside near a lovely bay with a gently sloping sandy beach and a backdrop of white limestone mountains overlooking a warm blue sea, it is the perfect place for a vacation on the island of Crete. Enjoy the relaxed ambience and savour the views and warm weather.
Be careful not to get confused with the second village also called Plaka which is on the opposite end of the island, this one is Plaka Chania.
The village has a square in the centre with cafés and traditional tavernas. You can buy local produce in the village shops such as wine, olives, olive oil fresh vegetables and fruit.
Plaka is just 23 km from Chania which has an airport (30 km) serviced by direct flights from around Europe. Both Easyjet and British Airways offer flights to Chania airport (CHQ). The alternative is Heraklion airport which is 128 km drive along the coast to the east. It has frequent direct services once again provided by Easyjet and British Airways.
Long warm summers with little rain are the typical weather patterns of this part of Crete. In Spring it is cooler in the evenings and you may even see some snow on the mountain tops whilst Autumn is frequently very pleasant, ideal for the grapes ripening in the local vineyards. Midsummer, especially school holiday periods of July and August can get quite hot and that is when you will appreciate the air conditioning in your holiday home.
