Luberon Natural Park is one of the beauty spots of Provence and it attracts visitors from all over the world.
The Parc naturel regional du Luberon encompasses a range of low lying hills (monts de Vaucluse is the highest at 1125 metres) which lie between the Alpes de Haute Provence to the west and the Vaucluse. The parc is an area of outstanding beauty with an exceptional, diverse variety of flora and fauna along with very attractive architecture and stunning countryside.
The Luberon Park is a UNESCO recognized site within which the main towns are Apt, Cavaillon, Manosque, Forcalquier and Pertuis and one of the best known villages is Gordes.
This is a rocky area which is mainly limestone, much of which is rich in fossils and noticeably dominates the landscape both with its dry stone walls, the traditional farm building and the ancient borees which were once used as shelter.
Also in the Luberon parc is the village of Roussillon near which lies the incredible ocre valley known as the French Colorado, a super place to visit.
In the summer months the Luberon basks in the heat of the sun and visitors enjoy driving around the mellow countryside and taking long lunches and evening meals in the many excellent restaurants in the area. In many ways a stay in the Luberon Parc is the epitome of an idyllic holiday in the south of France. We have an excellent selection of villas in Provence including a good choice in the Luberon.
