Isola 2000 chalets range from 3 bedrooms for 10 people to 4 bedrooms for 12 people in capacity. All are very well appointed, immediately overlooking the main nursery slopes.
Isola 2000 as its name suggests is located at 2000 metres and is the highest altitude ski resort in the southern French Alps. Situated close to the Italian border in the Mercantour National Park Isola 2000 has an excellent snow record, the season usually starts mid-December and runs through to the end of April (varies year to year). It is also a very sunny resort.
The skiing is very good for beginners and intermediates and there is an excellent snow park for boarders. In the morning the southern slopes enjoy good snow and sunshine and in the afternoon you can head up high and find plenty of crisp snow and nice long runs. There are 120km of groomed ski runs, made up of 42 pistes, 3 black, 11 red, 21 blue and 7 green. The lifts are modern and efficient and well run with 210 snow cannons ensuring you can ski back to resort. You can buy an Isola 2000 ski pass or a Mercantour pass which also allows you to ski in Auron.
The Isola 2000 ski school is ESF who run classes for all abilities including snowboarding and young children. The nursery slopes are big, wide and not at all intimidating, they are also right in the resort so any anxious parents can watch from the bar!
There are shops and a number of bars and restaurants, it isn’t really a big night life sort of place. Very much a family resort.
Isola 2000 is just one hour twenty-five minutes drive from Nice International airport which is serviced with direct flights from London Gatwick by Easyjet. One of the great things about Isola 2000 is that you can go to Nice for a day out by the Mediterranean if you fancy a change of scene or a swim in the sea.
