The Loule Carnival is the major annual event of it's kind in the Algarve.
The Carnation revolution commemorates the fall of the Portuguese dictatorship in Faro in April each year.
Covering over one thousand kilometres the annual Portugal Rally is held in May in the Algarve each year.
The Faro Municipal Theatre is the venue for the annual Portuguese Guitar Festival in June.
Faro is again at the centre of things for Portugal day in June. It is the annual celebration of the poet Camoes, the country and the people.
The big annual music event on the Algarve coast in June is the Festival Med which takes place in Loule.
In Cacela Velha village each July you can enjoy the Moorish nights event.
Tennis is a well represented sport in the Algarve and the Grand Champions event held each year at the Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy is a good chance to see world famous Seniors in action during August.
Also in August you can watch the sailing boats compete in the Audi Club Med Cup, starting in Portimao.
Food is another big part of Portuguese life and the annual seafood festival held in August in the Jardim do Pescador in Olhanese is a good opportunity to enjoy some yourself. This event is also known as the Festival do Marisco.
In the Marina and Manuel Bivar Gardens during August you can catch the Faro book fair.
Beach lovers enjoy the International Sand Sculpture Festival which is held in Armacao de Persa each year from May to October.
