Plaka travel
Plaka is just 23 km from Chania which has an airport (30 km) serviced by direct flights from around Europe. Both Easyjet and British Airways offer flights to Chania airport (CHQ). The alternative is Heraklion airport which is 128 km drive along the coast to the east. It has frequent direct services once again provided by Easyjet and British Airways.
Plaka weather
Long warm summers with little rain are the typical weather patterns of this part of Crete. In Spring it is cooler in the evenings and you may even see some snow on the mountain tops whilst Autumn is frequently very pleasant, ideal for the grapes ripening in the local vineyards. Midsummer, especially school holiday periods of July and August can get quite hot and that is when you will appreciate the air conditioning in your holiday home.
