Girona is a Costa Brava attraction with a beautiful old town area which is well worth visiting whilst staying on holiday in the Costa Brava, Spain.
The superb food on offer in a fantastic choice of restaurants and tapas bars make Girona a great choice for a night out and there is plenty to explore during the day.
You can enjoy an amble along the old city walls and admire the twelfth century tapestry in the monumental cathedral. See cathedral.giroga.org for visiting details.
Admire the tree lined river banks of the river Onyar and meander around the myriad streets of the Call (the Jewish quarter) and the old centre of Girona which has medieval origins.
The museum of Jewish history gives insight into the strong connection the city has with the Jewish community, as Girona in the Middle ages was the cabbalistic theology centre of Europe.
There is good shopping to be had on both banks of the river, particularly when it comes to foodstuff and wine.
Girona is within easy striking distance of all of our holiday villas in Costa Brava and it’s also not too far from our Catalonia villas in the hinterland.
