It is a pretty cool range now. The number of private self-catered chalets has been increased to 135 and the price span has been brought down as we have sought to improve value for money and affordability. The apartment selection has been increased to 80 and we have aimed it more at suiting individual families and small groups of friends. The...

The children are back to school and the daily routine has returned to normal, the leaves on the trees are starting to turn and our thoughts naturally turn towards winter. In northern Europe, it can be long and miserable yet there are bright moments, Christmas, New Year and if you are lucky a holiday skiing. France is the number one European ski destination and it is easy to understand why. Not only is the access very good by sea, tunnel and air it also has two mountain ranges with very good skiing, the smaller and cheaper Pyrenees and the vast high...

French ski events 2014. A guide to what is on in the Alps in France this winter.Although not a skiing event the Alpe d'Huez Androz trophy annual event attracts plenty of interest each year in December. Specially adapted rally cars speeding round an icy track in the mountains guarantees plenty of drama. There are torch lit processions throughout the French Alps on Christmas Eve and Isola 2000 is one of the most enjoyable as more often than not there is a clear star filled sky.The torch lit processions at La Rosiere begin on the 11th of December and...

Isola 2000 Andros Trophee 2013. I was at Isola 2000 yesterday and saw first hand the preparations for the 2013 Andros Trophy event which starts today. The ice track is set in the lower parking area at Isola 2000, an impressive twisting circuit with high bank ice walls. It should be a great spectacle.Interestingly this year there are regular cars in the main event but also a competition for electric cars, very much a sign of the times. The snow conditions are great at Isola at the moment and as so often the sun was shining yesterday. I was checking on the...

Isola 2000 resort visit December 2012 was a great opportunity for me to see again just how well appointed our chalets are and the fabulous snow conditions. There has been an exceptional amount of snow fallen in the French Alps in recent days and I was keen to take a look at the current conditions for myself. I'm also very into snow shoe walking so a sunny Sunday yesterday seemed the perfect opportunity. It's a long time since I was last in a ski resort before the season started, in fact the last time dates way back to when I was a ski rep in...

Isola 2000 Christmas ski report following my day in resort yesterday.NEW for 2012 is the digital ski pass system. Your card goes in the top left hand pocket, it gets scanned as you approach the barrier and through you go onto the lift, its much quicker. The snow has been late arriving in the Alps this year compared to recent times. It is now there in abundance in the northern Alps but the southern Alps is still a bit short. I was interested to know how this was impacting on our main southern French resort Isola 2000, so I went for a days skiing to...
