The Costa Dorada or 'Golden Coast' also known as the Costa Daurada is a coastline bathed by the colour of gold - soft, light, warm. It's 216 kilometres of long quiet beaches stretch to the coastal province of Tarragona, south of Catalonia.

The Costa Dorada is an ideal family holiday destination with facilities suitable for children and adults, and conducive to calm and relaxation. There are vast sandy beaches, transparent waters, tranquil villages and fields alternating vineyards and olive trees, carob, hazelnut and almond orchards, each year the region attracts many fans.

The hinterland offers easy access to major monasteries of medieval origin, with picturesque scenery, rugged mountain ranges and the Ebro Delta with its labyrinth of rivers and lakes.

Travel

You can self-drive to the area but most people tend to fly to Reus (REU) 41km (about 34 minutes by road) or Barcelona (BCN) airport which is between one hundred and one hundred and forty kilometres of most of the villas in the area, around an hour and a quarter drive normally. Flight operators to Barcelona include low-cost airlines Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair, Bmibaby as well as Aer Lingus and Monarch.

Weather

The climate in the Costa Dorada is ideal for holidays in the sun as there is no shortage of sunshine from April to October. There is hardly any rainfall to interrupt your time by the pool either.
