Thought about renting a villa with a heated pool? The children might thank you for it!
Just the idea of being able to wake up in the morning and take a quick splosh in the swimming pool before a shower and breakfast is enough for many of us to push the boat out and rent a villa with a pool for next years holiday.
But what if that inviting looking pool holds a chill which will have you jumping out of it as fast as you got in?
By and large if you and your family are staying in a holiday villa with a swimming pool just about anywhere in Europe south of the English channel during June, July or August you can be fairly safe in the knowledge that your early morning dip will be the lovely soothing experience you expected.
However if you are looking at other school holiday periods such as Easter, Spring Bank Holiday or October half term or non school related dates such as in May and September then you might be in for a shivery surprise.
Those lucky folk who have a pool of their own are well aware of the difficulties once the days get shorter as it is the cool of the night time which most affects pool temperatures along with the ambient day temperature. A pool without heating struggles to warm up after a long cool night and the bigger and deeper the pool, the longer it takes.
It doesn't take much to keep the heat in a pool, an electric cover does a decent job, a glazed cover (many are telescopic these days so you can open it by day and close it in the evenings) makes a huge difference and of course a pool heating system is best of all. For a guaranteed good swim whatever the weather or time of year you can not beat a villa with an indoor pool, of which you will find a wide choice in Brittany in France where they are often available all year round.
The cheapest pool heating option from a holiday rental point of view is a solar powered one as you will not be asked to pay any contribution which is often the case where more expensive mains electric systems are deployed. Some owner prefer an all in price and others will ask you to pay only if the pool heating is used.
It is not just you who will enjoy having pool heating but the children will especially as it is they who tend to spend hours playing in the pool whilst on holiday, they will definitely thank you for it. Lets not be forgetting the older generation who find it harder to put up with cooler water, they are very important as it is often them who are paying for the holiday!
The villa La Gineste VAL060 in Saint Cezaire sur Siagne on the Cote d'Azur in France is a fine example of a villa with a heated swimming pool with telescopic cover. The house sleeps up to five people and costs from 1015€ to 2295€ per week to rent with a supplement of 120€ for the week if the optional pool heating is used.
Here is a review from our clients who stayed there this year:
" We went into this house from July 19 to August 2. By this message, we just wanted to let you know that we were very pleased with our stay: the villa was the right size for my wife and myself. The pool was exactly what we needed, the water temperature (27 degrees). Moreover owners are very warm, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return!"
