The shifting beach of Brac is one of the most iconic beaches in Croatia and it's peculiar feature is that is never the same from one year to the next.
Seen from above the Zlatni rat beach is an impressive sight as it juts out like a silver tongue into the vivid blue water of the Adriatic. You don't need to be airborne to enjoy the effect, you get a great view of the beach from up on the mountain behind.
Brac is quite a mountainous island with the highest hill rising to 780 metres so as you drive around or walk there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the superb views such as the changing shape of Zlatni rat.
It is the sea currents and the wind which move the convex beach constantly, a phenomena found on just a small number of locations around the world, the only other we know of in Europe is in Brittany in France on the island of Groix, which is also a favourite with our clients.
There are a number of pristine beaches around the island which are ideal for swimming and taking a picnic. Like many of the beaches in Croatia the sand is not particularly fine but this helps the clarity of the water.
Though there are many day visitors to the island it is when you have your own rental villa with a pool on Brac, along with a hire car at your disposal that you are able to get to really appreciate its diverse attractions to the full and relax a bit as well.
