The annual Termini Imerese Carnival lays claim to being the oldest carnival in Sicily. It takes place in 2012 between February 12th and 21st in Termini Imerese, not far from Palermo.
Medmoda is an annual fashion show held in Caltanissetta in March at the Teatro Margherita.
In April it’s the annual Artichoke Festival in Cerda. The Artichoke plays a big part in Sicilian cuisine.
In May it’s the World Festival on the Beach. A sailing extravaganza in Mondello bay, Palermo. Its windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing boats that participate.
Also in May it’s the Awinando, the annual wine festival in Palermo.
Taormina Film Festival is during June in the Teatro Antico in Taormina as well as other open-air venues around the island.
The Naxos gardens in Catania are the venue for the annual Chquita cup beach volleyball contest.
In August Medfest brings the streets of Buccheri alive in a two day celebration of medieval times.
The Palio dei Normanni takes place in Piazzi Armenia in central Sicily in August each year.
WOMAD Sicily is on in September. World music festival which is a great family event.
Also in September there is the Coppa dgli Assi horse jumping competition held in Palermo at the Reale Parco della Favorita.
