Rome villas with pools, luxury holiday cottages, gites, rental homes, self catering accommodation to let available for holiday vacations from Villas Worldwide. Have a look at our fabulous selection of luxurious villas in Rome area which are all within easy train journey of Rome city centre.

Rome is an amazing city which is actually very pleasant to visit and spend time in. On the whole it is clean and the people are friendly, particularly if you make a bit of an effort to speak Italian, though English is used widely in tourist attractions and restaurants alike.

Even if you only visit the centre of Rome for a day whilst relaxing on your villa holiday in the Roma area, it is an experience you are unlikely to forget for all the right reasons. Just remember it does get hot and you may want some sort of sunshade particularly for the young.

There is a long list of places to visit in Rome and it is probably better not to spend your time in queues to get into the Vatican or such likes on your first day. Take a little time instead to acquaint yourself with the splendors of Saint Peters square, then head over to the old city via the Castel Angela which will ring a big bell with those who have read Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons.

In the area you will find the Pantheon, the Piazza Navorna and the Trevi fountain all of which are worth spending time in and around. In fact there are numerous excellent restaurants for a light lunch in the Piazza Navorna where you can admire the Michelangelo statues and fountains.

If you prefer to snack on the hoof there are lots of excellent shops and cafes selling lovely pizzas and paninis and the like, all beautifully presented, delicious and very reasonably priced.

Head over to the Foro Romana where even if you are not a buff on architecture you are likely to be blown away as ancient Rome, which extends to the Coloseum, is very impressive indeed, as well as being remarkably extensive.

Eating out and shopping in Rome are top drawer with something for all budgets. From a simple Pizza to a gastronomic treat in a beautiful and often romantic setting. Shops selling high quality hand bags, shoes and luxury items are abundant.

Rome Travel

The main International airport is the Leonardo di Vinci airport at Fiumichino (FCO) located to the north of the city and has a rail link. Ciampino (CIA) in the south tends to be favored by low cost flight operators. Road links to Rome are very good via the motorway network but it is a long way down to southern Italy. Rome has excellent rail connections and an underground system. Parking and driving in Rome are not recommended which is why most visitors tend to take the train.

Rome Weather

The weather in Rome is reliably warm and sunny most of the year except for November which is the rainy month. The hills averlooking Rome to the south are cooler than the centre which is why the Pope has a summer palace there.

Outside Rome there are super beaches plus beautiful lakes up in the hills near Castelgandolfo and along the plains near Bracchiano. All around there are numerous fascinating places to visit when you are not enjoying the pool at your Rome villa.
