Nice tramway park and ride is a really good way to visit Nice without any hassle.
The Nice tramway is an ultra modern, clean, air conditioned, pleasant way to get into and around Nice with a park and ride system at each end allowing you to use it economically.
So if you are thinking of heading to Nice in the car for a day out and want to avoid heavy parking fees and local traffic then you should exit the motorway A8 at exit 54 Nice Nord. Then follow signs to the Parcazur las Planas designated parking area and tram station which is just a few hundred metres from the motorway exit. Do pay attention though as the motorway turn off is surprisingly sharp and if you miss it you will be heading for the Italian border.
You can then buy a day trip tramway ticket for 4€ per person which allows you unlimited tram use and covers the car park fee. The trams are very frequent (every 5 – 8 minutes) so in no time you are on your way and in about a quarter of an hour you arrive at place Massena or just after at Cathedral Vieille Ville which are both within easy walking distance of the sea front. After a day enjoying Nice it’s actually really relaxing to cruise back to las Planas in the tram pick up your car and then get straight onto the motorway without having to negotiate any town traffic.
