Millau, the gateway to the south, in the Aveyron departement, with its sunny terraces and avenues lined with plane trees, is home to many architectural treasures, it has a rich history, such as the washing area, the Ayrolle (18th century), the Hotel de Sambucy and orangery (17th century), Notre-Dame de l'Espinasse, the square tower of the Belfry (17th century).

Millau travel
Travelling to Millou is much better these days as now there is good motorway access. You can fly direct to Nimes airport (FNI) 166km (about 1 hour 52 minutes drive), Montpellier (MPL) 125km (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes driving) or Marseilles airport (MRS) 283km (around 3 hrs by car).

The climate in Millau is warm and sunny from May to September as it is so far south, but being a mountainous area there is occasional rain. The principal school holiday times of July and August can be quite hot.
