This is the land of the famous Cassoullet, which never tastes as good anywhere else and what could be a better compliment than a fine Cahors claret. Foie gras and duck are also local delicacies and once you’ve tasted a good “magret de canard” it’s easy to get hooked.
There are a number of pilgrimage spots in the area which served those making the long trek down to Saint Jean de Compostelle, Rocamadour is perhaps the most dramatic, even more so when the eagles are flying over the limestone valley and Toulouse is the most sophisticated, it’s a beautiful red brick city with fascinating tourist visits and great shops.
There is a good deal to do with lots of lovely walks, excellent cycling and a whole range of exciting activities including canyoning.
