Meribel is one of the most popular ski resorts due to its charming village atmosphere, superb facilities and direct access to a fabulous ski area. Meribel is part of the vast Trois Vallees ski area, the largest in Europe all available on the 3 vallees ski pass. For over 70 years skiers from all over the world, particularly the UK, have been drawn to the obvious attraction of a ski holiday in Meribel, 600km of groomed ski slopes, 200 ski lifts and in the Meribel valley alone the services of 400 ski instructors.
Meribel mountain has loads of excellent skiing particularly for beginners and intermediates and it is always improving as it is without question a model, modern ski resort.
From Meribel itself at 1450 metres and the hamlet of Meribel – Mottaret further up the valley at 1750 metres, you can clip into your skis or board and straight away join the vast 3 Valleys ski area with its extremely fluid lifts. The resort is open from mid December to end April (varies year on year). This is a perfect ski environment for families with children of all ages as well as groups of friends who are equally drawn to the renowned night life.
Chambery is the nearest airport to Meribel, it is around 2 hours drive, there are direct flights from East Midlands, Manchester, Leeds, Gatwick, Stanstead, Newcastle, Exeter, Southampton, Birmingham and Edinburgh with Jet2, Snowjet and Flybe. Lyon airport is 2 and a half hours, Geneva 3 hours. Moutiers train station is half an hour.
The ESF Meribel Les Allues provides ski school for all grades and there are a number of private schools. Having a strong British clientele there is no shortage of English speaking ski instructors.
In addition to alpine skiing Meribel also offers a range of outdoor attractions including cross country skiing, off-piste skiing, mini golf, ski mountaineering with skins, snow shoe trails, snow scooters and a snow park. Indoor facilities include bowling, fitness centre, ice skating, squash and a superb swimming pool.
