Corsica France is one of the gems of the Mediterranean, not only does it enjoy an enviable climate, beautiful clean seas and dramatic, beautiful mountains it is by and large unspoilt. It’s like a Caribbean island just a couple of hour’s flight from the UK. The only snag is that there are not many flights to the island so you do need to book early.

The island has the best sun record and lowest rain fall record in France, so there is no doubting that if you are wanting good weather Corsica is the place to go. Such records do not tell the full story, there is substantial rainfall during the winter months and some in the summer, but it tends to fall in the mountains which often remain snow capped well after Easter. The coastline remains blissfully tropical but benefits from the water supply provided by the mountains. So if it's walking in the mountains which appeals to you do take appropriate clothing.

The south of the island boasts many of the best beaches, they are gently sloping and mostly in pretty coves. The main airport in the south is Figari although it is quite feasible to fly into Bastia in the north and drive down along the relatively straight and easy coast road.
