Holiday events Caribbean 2014. Our guide of what is on in the Caribbean this season.
In January the season gets under way with the St Barts Music Festival. Across the island Catholic and Anglican churches stage concerts of various music genres including classical, opera and jazz. Dates are the 3rd to 26th 2014.
In the Dominican Republic the masks, floats and dancers emerge for the Santo Domingo carnival on Sundays in February. A more African biased event takes place at La Vega carnival, the islands biggest.
The Master of the Ocean event, a kite surf, surf and wind surf triathlon, is held in the Dominican Republic for six days starting on the 23rd February 2014.
The Gazelles des mers and the over 100 foot long Grand Dames des mers take to the sea for the St Barths Bucket regatta 27th to 30th March 2014.
The next sailing event is the Les Voiles de Saint Barth regatta takes place 14th to 19th of April 2014.
Then from the 2nd to the 4th of May 2014 there is more sailing with the West Indies Regatta held off St Barts.
The St Barth Film Festival in April is a great excuse for folk of the film world to congregate each year.
The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is held in the cultural centre and the Cabarate beach in Santiago in November.
Also in November you can catch the Martinique Jazz Festival in Fort de France.
If you like rather extreme running and walking you might like to join the participants of the annual Transmartinique hike/run from Grand Riviere in the north to Sainte Anne in the south.
