Tourrettes sur Loup is one of the prettiest hilltop villages in the south of France, known locally as the "cite des violettes" for its strong association with growing violets for the local perfume and aroma industries centred around Grasse, such as Fragonard. You will find lots of connections with violets in the village, you can even buy violet flavoured ice cream here, which is certainly unusual. From various points around the village there are superb views of the mountains behind and valley below, towards the sea.

It is a compact fortified village with a pretty square by the church where there is a charming outdoor cafe com restaurant. Go through the ancient arch and you will find pretty, tiny old streets with an interesting range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The closest tennis courts are just at the entrance of Tourrettes sur Loup, and you can reserve courts there. In TSL itself, there are a few restaurants, a favourite is La Cave, a small restaurant with a small menu but all fresh daily products and wonderful wines. There is also Chez Grandmere, who does traditional French cuisine especially good for Couscous.
There are a couple of Pizzerias and then you have the Cafe du Midi, which is great for light lunches.

Nearby there is the Pont du Loup where you will find that children (and adults actually) love to visit the Florian sweet and jam factory. A little further there is Bar sur Loup which has a couple of top class restaurants and perched high on the mountain above is the delightful village of Gourdon which dominates the entrance to the spectacular Gorge du Loup. In the other direction there is the lively town of Vence and the renowned arty village of Saint Paul de Vence where you will find the Colomn d'Or, one of the best restaurants in the south of France. The beach at Nice is half an hours drive and within an hour and a half you have a whole range of beaches, great shopping and superb resorts such as Antibes, Cannes and Monte Carlo.

Traveling to Tourrettes sur Loup is very good for self drive tourists as there is good motorway access nearly all the way. It is also handy for Nice airport (NCE) which has direct international flights from around the world all year round, it is 20km (about 31 minutes by car).

The climate in Tourrettes sur Loup is superb from April to October, very warm with plenty of sunshine and hardly any rain. It does get hot in the main school holiday seasons of July and August but being in the hills its cooler at night than by the coast.
