Bastia is a delightful town with a beautiful old port, ferry terminal and a charming shopping area, made up of narrow streets, along with a vast market area overlooking the sea. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and pavement cafes on offer, many offering local specialities.

It is a pivotal town for the cap corse to the north, the north-west coast for the likes of St Florent right over to Calvi and for the west coast to the south of Bastia.

Bastia Travel

Bastia airport (BIA) is located around 15km to the south of the town. You can also get the car ferry to Bastia both from mainland France and Italy.

The climate in Bastia is beautiful from April through to October. During this time you can expect many sunny days and very little rain. It gets hot in Bastia in the peak summer holiday times of July and August but the holiday houses are well adapted to cope and of course you have a swimming pool and the sea!
