Q. How do I get to
Spain?
A. Direct flights from the UK from
airports up and down the country including many regionals. Alicante is the main
airport for the Costa Blanca along with Valencia. Barcelona, Reus and Gerona
are best for the Costa Brava.
| |
Q. Can you help with
booking Spain flights?
A. We can offer advise. Most
people find suitable flights on the web. Click on the flights arrow on the
right of this page and use the skyscanner link to help you source the flight
you want from an airport near you. http://www.skyscanner.net/

| |
Q. Can I place an
option on the villa?
A. Yes we can hold an option for
24 hours except for last minute bookings.
| |
Q. Can I book
parking, car hire and insurance?
A. Yes just click on the link
buttons on the left side of each page, check availability and book online
direct with the recommended supplier. We have negotiated favourable rates with
all our listed suppliers for your convenience.
| |
Q. What time can we
arrive and when do we need to leave?
A. The villa is available to you
from 17.00 and you need to leave by 10.00 (unless stated otherwise).
| |
Q. What about
security?
A. The Costa Blanca and Costa
Brava are generally pretty good. You just need to be careful and take sensible
precautions. Refer to the foreign office web site for up to date advice. www.fco.gov.uk
| |
Q. What is the local
language and do they speak English?
A. Spanish. English is widely
spoken and in the likes of Javea you will even find English language DVD hire
shops.
| |
Q. Do you know the
villas and the areas?
A. Yes. We have wide experience of
the villas and the areas. The Costa Blanca is our particular forte as we have
our own office, full time staff and a long standing stock of villas there.
| |
Q. What’s the Spain
weather like throughout the year?
A. Its about as good as it gets.
UNESCO nominated Javea in the Costa Blanca as the place with the ideal climate.
It’s warm all year round really, with very little rain. However there is no
shortage of water there as there is a sea water desalination plant. It does get
hot in the height of summer but the country and the accommodation is well
adapted for the heat, siestas are “de rigeur” and everyone tends to eat out
late.
| |
Q. What is the local
currency and guideline exchange rate?
A. Euros. The exchange rate tends
to be around 1.4 euros per pound sterling.
| |
Q. What is the time
difference?
A. One hour.
| |
Q. What is there to
do?
A. There are lots of water sports
facilities and interesting traditional villages to visit in the hinterland. The
Spanish like to party and there are plenty of places where you can dance and
there are lots and lots of places to eat out. Boat trips can be very pleasant.
Culturally Spain does have a lot to offer, great art, historic buildings and
the like, but this is mainly in towns or inland so is not generally easily
accessible from the villa resorts. There are a surprising number of well marked
rambling walks which can be particularly enjoyed in the cool of morning and
evening.
| |
Q. What is the time
difference?
A. One hour ahead
| |
Q. What is the food
like?
A. Tapas and paella spring to mind
as great favourites, though there is much more on offer as meat is excellent
and the fish fresh are well prepared. On the whole you can eat very well at
reasonable prices though you should ask the local agent for the best places to
eat. Restaurants are family friendly, very relaxed and many cafes are
surprisingly good for breakfasts of an English variety.
| |
Q. Are there any
particularly good value times to go?
A. If you are not tied to school
holidays then June is probably best as the days are long and the weather warm.
In school holidays Spring Bank holiday is probably best value although the
weather is less reliable. Easter and October half term are great value in
Spain.
| |
Q. Is it possible to
arrange extra services such as cleaning locally?
A. The local agency will usually
provide this service. The price is generally around 14 euros and hour.
| |
Q. How does the
local deposit system work?
A. When you arrive at the local
office (where appropriate) they will take a 300€ credit card deposit, just like
when you hire a car. This is destroyed when you depart subject to any
breakages. In the case of individual owners a deposit is paid in cash on
arrival and returned when you depart (see individual villa descriptions).
| |
Q. Are there any
local charge and how do they work?
A. Yes sometimes. Linen and towels
are paid for locally in some cases. See the villa description for details.
| |
Q. What local
assistance do you offer?
A. The villas in Spain are mainly
supplied via professional agencies so local assistance is very good. Our own
office in Javea in the Costa Blanca is particularly attentive and good English
is spoken.
