What is the change-over day for Greece ? Up
A. Saturday. Sometimes owners can be flexible outside of July and August and will accept
other change-over days such as Tuesday and Friday in order to accommodate flight
requirements.

How do I get to Greece ? Up
A. For Crete most people fly to Heraklion (some to Chania) direct from the UK. Flights
from London take around three and a half hours. For Syros you can fly direct from the UK to
Mykonos then take the high speed ferry which takes around 20 minutes.

Can you help with booking Greece flights ? Up
A. We can offer advise. Most people find suitable flights on the web. We suggest

Can I place an option on the villa ? Up
A. Yes we can hold an option for 24 hours except for last minute bookings.

Can I book car hire, parking and insurance ? Up
A. Yes just click on the link buttons on the left side of each page, check
availability and book online direct with the recommended supplier.
We have negotiated favourable rates with all our listed suppliers for
your convenience.

What time can we arrive and when do we need to leave ? Up
A. The villa is available to you from 17.00 and you need to leave by 10.00
(unless stated otherwise).

What about security ? Up
A. Greece and Crete in particular is generally pretty good with no
great security concerns. Refer to the foreign office web site for up to

What is the local language and do they speak English ? Up
A. Greek. Quite a lot of English is spoken and most necessary information, such
as restaurant menus is also available in English.

Do you know the villas and the island ? Up
A. We have a good knowledge of the island following frequent visits. We also have
access to our resident local manager who works exclusively with us and lives near
Heraklion in Crete. She knows the island and the people intimately and is a great
source of information.

What’s the weather like in Greece throughout the year ? Up
A. The climate is fantastic from early spring right through to late autumn. There is
little rain and plenty of sunshine.

What is the local currency and guideline exchange rate ? Up
A. Euros. The exchange rate tends to be around 1.4 euros per pound sterling.

A. 2 hours ahead.

What is there to do ? Up
A. There are lots of water sports facilities and interesting traditional villages to visit
in the hinterland. Greek dance evenings are popular and quite fun and there are lots and
lots of places to eat out. Boat trips can be very pleasant, allowing you to take
advantage of crystal clear seas and deserted beaches. Culturally Greece is very rich and
there are numerous archaeological sites and monasteries of note to visit.

What is the food like ? Up
A. Greek food is really special and best enjoyed when you take a number of small dishes
as a feast. There is great variety, lots of taste from fresh, local herbs and its also
very healthy. The Cretan diet has been recognised as one of the best in the world for
all round good health.

Are there any particularly good value times to go ? Up
A. If you are not tied to school holidays then June is probably best as the days are long
and the weather warm. In school holidays Spring Bank holiday is probably best value
although the weather is less reliable. Easter and October half term are great value
in Greece.

Is it possible to arrange extra services such as cleaning locally ? Up
A. The majority of our owners will provide this service. The price is generally around
14 euros and hour.

How does the local deposit system work ? Up
A. In most cases a cash deposit of 470€ is paid to the owner on arrival. This is returned when you
depart. Cheques cannot be accepted as they are not reliable enough and individual owners do not have
credit card facilities. So this is the only way we can do this.

Are there any local charges and how do they work ? Up
A. Not usually. Linen and towels are generally provided free of charge. Only if you use air
conditioning or heating are there usually extra charges. Check individual descriptions
for exact details.

What local assistance do you offer ? Up
A. We have a French national, English speaking manager in Crete, who lives there permanently. There are
not representatives as we believe our clients prefer not to have them. But the manager is there on the
phone for you and in particular in case of emergency we have plenty of resource.
