Eze is a Cote d’Azur attraction which ranks among the most spectacular in the south of France.
The village of Eze is perched high on the cliffs at 356 metres above sea level and commands stunning views of the Mediterranean, the mountains and the bay of Saint Jean cap Ferrat, its worth a visit for the views alone.
There is much more though, Eze has a very pretty medieval village which is perched on top of a hill and here you will find a myriad of small winding street which are too small for cars.
At the top is an ancient fortress below which is the beautiful provencal style church and at the very end of the village there is a botanical gardens (there is an entrance fee) overlooking the sea.
In addition there are many gift shops, art galleries and there is even a strong presence of local perfume and fragrance companies including Galimard and Fragonard.
It also has one of the best appointed 2 star Michelin restaurants on the Cote d’Azur, the chateau de la chevre d‘or, with chef Philippe Labbé. It’s a wallet buster but a real treat.
Another side to Eze is the beach at Eze sur mer which is connected by a pretty steep footpath, which I rather like, as well as by road.
