The Dordogne region of France is one of the countries richest and most cultural and it is also blessed with some of the most enjoyable riverside beaches. There is something for everyone in this varied landscape, from the rolling vineyards of the Medoc to the limestone cliffs of the Dordogne valley, all have their attractions.

The region is renowned for its rivers and valleys and excellent cuisine. Travel
Travelling to the Dordogne has become much easier over the last five years with the opening of new motorways, fast train stations and airports. There are direct international flights to Bergerac (EGC), Limoges (LIG), Brive Vallee de la Dordogne (BVE), Toulouse Blagnac (TLS) and Bordeaux (BOD). Flight operators to the Dordogne include Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2, Flybe, British Airways, KLM and Air France. Self-drive is a popular option with many taking an overnight stop on the way down. You can take the TGV fast train to Angouleme. Note: careful at Brive if arriving on bank holidays as we understand the car hire companies take the day off.

Weather
The climate plays a big part in making holidays in this region so enjoyable, as it is generally warm and pleasant most of the time. The peak summer months can get quite hot but there is a fair chance there will be some rain, just enough to take the edge of the heat and maintain the greenery.
