The Mont-Blanc ski pass allows you to ski the following areas, all of which are accessible by ski bus which is included in the pass:
The Grands Montets (1235m – 3300m). This area includes the Argentiere glacier, Lognan and the Pendant. A new snowpark is open mid-station at Lognan. This area is open 4 December to 8 May 2011.
Brevent/Flegere (1030m to 2525m). Here there are two ski areas which are linked together by cable car. South facing slopes and stunning views of Mont Blanc, wide range of pistes along with skiing for all grades. The Brevent lift departs from the centre of town in Chamonix. Le Brevent is open 18th December to 25 April and La Flegere 18 December to May 1.
Le Domiane de Balme (1453m to 2270m). At the top of the valley, on the Swiss border, incorporating the villages of Le Tour and Vallorcine. Plenty of wide open skiing on two mountain sides and beautiful views of the valley from Charamillon and pistes through the trees by Switzerland on the Vallorcine side. The Balme area opens 18 December to 25 April.
Les Houches (950m – 1900m)
Always a favourite when the weather conditions turn nasty as a lot of it is in the trees. Snow canons, 110 in all keep the snow alive and it has one of the legendary ski runs, the Kandahar.
There are a number of other ski areas which are lower in altitude.
Les Planards (1062m – (1242)
Located just a couple of minutes outside Chamonix centre this is a large beginners area with some intermediate skiing (2 green, 1 blue and a red run). Snow cannons assure the quality and quantity of snow. There is also a restaurant with sun terrace.
Le Savoy (1049m)
In the centre of town its very much a beginners area with two pommer lifts and rolling carpet. There are snow cannons and a kindergarten.
La Vormaine (1480m)
This is another beginners area situated at the bottom of Charamillon, part of the Balme ski sector. There is a ski kindergarten run by the ski school, the sunny exposure is very helpful.
Le Chosalets (1230m)
This is the beginners area at Argentiere around five hundred metres from the Lognan/Grand Montets ski lift. Great place for beginners and children.
