Bastia is a delightful town with a beautiful old port, ferry terminal and a charming shopping area, made up of narrow streets, along with a vast market area overlooking the sea. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and pavement cafes on offer, many offering local specialities.

It is a pivotal town for the cap corse to the north, the north-west coast for the likes of St Florent right over to Calvi and for the west coast to the south of Bastia.

Bastia airport is located around 15km to the south of the town.
